MERAKI MOUNTAIN ADVENTURES

About Us

Meraki [pronounced: Mur-Ah-Kee]: Is an old Greek word that means to put one’s heart, Soul, and creativity into the work one does. For us at Meraki Mountain Adventures, this could not better encapsulate our approach to adventure guiding. Our passion for doing this work exudes from our every pore, and we could not be more excited and honored to guide you on an adventure experience in the greater Durango area.

We love to immerse ourselves in Durango's mecca of outdoor adventures, and it brings us great joy to share our passions with families/friends/kids/individuals of all ages and abilities; supporting them to push their personal limits, connect with the natural world, and simply have fun! We share that fire that lives inside of us, and encourage our guests to step out of their comfort zones, try something new, or expand upon their current skill set.

The beauty that surrounds Durango is unique, never-ending, and constantly changing. We would be honored and beyond stoked to show you some of our favorite spots and support you in your outdoor endeavors! Our guides are certified, medically trained, and eager to share their passions with you! Safety is our number one priority and your level of joy is a close second. Let us know what would put the biggest smile on your face and whether you are looking to push your limits or simply chill out amongst the beauty! Whether it be hiking, rock-climbing, SUP-ing, or mountain biking, all of our trips are highly customizable to your groups ability levels and desires!

Colin Courtney

(Founder/Lead Guide)

Colin has been working in the outdoor education and guiding industry for the last 10 years. The mountains of Colorado are where he found his passion for all things adventure and graduated from Western State Colorado University in Gunnison, Colorado in 2011. Before taking off on a one-way plane ticket to New Zealand to travel and learn more about the world, he finished his goal of hiking/climbing all of Colorado’s 57 peaks over 14,000ft. Since then he has worked in wilderness therapy in Idaho, guided international service immersion and adventure trips in Tanzania and Fiji, guided backpacking trips in the Grand Canyon, and worked for an outdoor education non-profit in Alaska. He and his wife call Durango home and love all that this amazing area has to offer.

Colin shines brightest when he is taking people on adventures in one form or another. It is without a doubt, his Soul’s work and he absolutely loves doing it. He always strives to meet people where they are at, and support them in expanding their belief in themselves, and connecting to the subtle beauties that surround each footstep, each pedal stroke, each paddle, and each reach. He is eager to share his passions and love for the natural world with his guests and support them in any and all outdoor endeavors.
