Meraki - Code of Conduct

“Meraki” is an old Greek word that means to put one's heart, Soul, and creativity into the work one does. This is a foundational concept interwoven throughout all parts of Meraki Mountain Adventures. It applies to all staff as well as how we approach interaction with our guests and potential guests. Meraki is committed to providing the highest standard of ethical and responsible tours, with its primary focus on guest and employee safety. Meraki strives to support its guests in stepping outside of their comfort zones, pushing their personal limits as far as they want to, while deepening their connection to and appreciation for Nature, and simply having fun. We support our guests in growing their belief in themselves, what they are capable of, and transferring their accomplishments on any given tour to affect many aspects of their own lives. The integrated values we embody in our approach to working with our guests also applies to how we work together as a team.

Meraki values and strives to establish a culture of support, respect, integrity, inspiration, and open communication among all members of its team. We encourage our entire team to see mistakes as opportunities to learn and improve from; and seek to discuss them openly as a team rather than trying to hide or minimize them. “Near misses” are seen as the perfect opportunity to recognize an issue within our systems and work to find the best solution to try to not repeat them again. Meraki strives for every member of the business to feel like they belong to a team; and are supported, appreciated, and inspired by one another. Meraki believes that relating to each member of the team this way will create a better result for everyone; guests included. Meraki does not tolerate any form of sexual harassment, intimidation, bullying, disrespect, rude, crude, and/or cruel forms of behavior in the work place. Such behavior will be discussed with management and all members affected, and are terms for suspension and/or termination of employment. We seek to create a work environment where people can allow their authentic selves to shine brightly, and feel supported and valued as we utilize our diverse backgrounds and skill sets to organize and run safe, inspiring, and fun tours for all of our guests.

Meraki utilizes a Challenge by Choice with Voice philosophy within the business and with its guests. We seek for all members of the team and guests to voice their goals, objectives, boundaries, and needs as they step out of their comfort zones as far as they are desiring to on any given day. As a team, we work to support one another in our different responsibilities, and offer help and assistance whenever possible. We do this while also allowing each member to uphold their unique duties and responsibilities within the business.

Meraki does not discriminate against any person on the basis of race, color, sex or gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, age, national or ethnic origin, political beliefs, veteran status, or disability in admission to, access to, education in, or employment in its tours and activities. Meraki acts in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act and strives to make reasonable accommodations for individuals with certain conditions, without changing the essential nature of the tour or responsibilities.
